Blandford-Blenheim Community Profile

Located in the heartland of South-Western Ontario Blandford-Blenheim offers all of the conveniences of urban living while enjoying the serenity of country life. Our location, and proximity to many large economic centers to Hwy 401 and Hwy 403 make Blandford-Blenheim an ideal place to live, work, and visit.
The Township is located in Oxford County, and has a population of approximately 7,200. The Township was almalgamated in 1975 from the historic County Townships of Blandford and Blenheim. Prominent communities within the Township include Bright, Drumbo, Plattsville, Princeton, and Washington.
Businesses within the Township enjoy low cost, and essential business services such as hydro, and advanced telecommunications. Blandford-Blenheim is located in the centre of Southwestern Ontario, which is home to approximately 3 million people who enjoy the temperature, climate, fertile soil, gently rolling landscapes, and varied stretches of lakeshore.
The Township, and the surrounding area has a long tradition of agriculture, which has bred a workforce accustomed to long hours of hard work, rewarded by a sense of personal responsibility and independence. Many of its skilled workers have grown up in the Township, while others have been attracted to the area because it has a place for the new economy of skills and specialized training in automotive, machining and plastics, food processing and advanced agricultural technologies. The workforce is well educated, and employees and residents benefit from being in close proximity to several major colleges and universities.
Blandford-Blenheim has close access to Highway 401, Highway 402, Highway 403, the Canadian National, and the Canadian Pacific Rail Line. The Township is within:

  • a three hour drive to major border crossings in Michigan, and New York State; and
  • a day’s drive to 130 million North American consumers and most major manufacturing centres within the American Midwest, and Eastern Seaboard.
