It's that time of year when we all start our spring cleaning, or at least think about starting!
This year I have the opportunity to be apart of something great. The Realtors in my office are pulling together and hosting a Yard Sale for the Cure on Saturday May 26, 2012 which will be held in the parking lot of Home Hardware on Dundas St in Woodstock.
I know I have numerous corners of my house, garage, shed and basement that are in need of organizing and decluttering. If you are one of those people who are wondering what to do with some of the things you find, let me suggest that you set it aside for this great cause.
I am organizing a Drop Off here in Drumbo and need your help. We are looking for gentle used items of reasonable value for the yard sale. Unfortunately we are not able to take large appliances, large furniture, clothing or old electronics however everything else is welcome!!
If you would like to be apart of this event please set aside any items of value and bring them to the Drop Off (location to be announced), or give me a shout and I'll be happy to pick it up.

Evacuation in Drumbo
As most of you already know from the commotion or have now hear it on the news that approximately 120 residence were evacuated here in Drumbo Thursday evening due to gas fumes.
Police say around 9 o'clock, they received a call for assistance from the Drumbo Fire Department after strong gasoline fumes were detected in the area of Harmer Crescent and Prospect Street. The evacuated residence were redirected to the fire hall, I also know many leaned on friends and family for a last minute sleep over, I was one of them.
The Ministry of Environment's Hazardous Material crew used absorbent materials to soak up roughly ten gallons of gasoline that had been dumped into a sewer. As gas levels decreased in clean up, the Drumbo Fire department flushed the sewer with thousands of litres of water.
The OPP and Ministry say their investigation is ongoing and would like to speak with anyone who has information about this incident (OPP 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers 1-800-222-TIPS).
Help keep our community save, if you have any information regarding this incident have a voice and make the call!!

PLAYGOURP We're Still Fighting for you!
As many of you already know, the playgroup held every Tuesday morning at the DOC has been cancelled, however we are not giving up on it. Many of us feel that this type of interactive play is essential for our preschoolers in preparation for the upcoming school year, as well as for the younger kids who attend and enjoy the interactions and change of environment. The kids look forward to the morning outing full of free play, crafts, singing, stories and visiting with their friends.
Below are two links, the first is to some information found on the DOC's website and the second is a direct link to the survey regarding the Early Years Program. Please take some time to read the information and complete the survey. Let's continue the fight for our Community Programs!!

Want a great way to start your day??
So, my morning didn't start off very good when I went to make my morning coffee and realized I was all out! So I put in a call to my trusty sidekick (my sister, who also lives in Drumbo) and asked if she would mind grabbing me a coffee from Cow Ridge Cafe and dropping it off on her way to work. Being the great sister she is said "sure, no problem" and grabbed one for herself as well. She later texted me and I quote "Cow Ridge coffee is pretty good!" and I 100% agree, I can honestly say that I have had Cow Ridge Cafe's coffee a few times now and have never been disappointed!! No need for Tim's when you can have CRC's Coffee!!! Be one of the first 5 people to leave a comment below and I'll buy you a Cow Ridge coffee!

Village on a Diet Week 9
Well everyone we have lost a few more. Just a reminder that if you fail to weigh in two weeks in a row without informing Frenz you are automatically disqualified from the program. On a more positive note, I am very excited to say that this is the first week in a while were there are no negative numbers meaning no one gained weight this week!! We had 7 losers and 11 maintainers, lets keep this trend up but try for more losers and less maintainers. The weather we are expected to have this week should be a great motivator to get outside and exercise. Keep it up Villagers only 7 more weeks to go!!

Village on a Diet Week 8
Well unfortunately we have lost a couple more Villagers but for those of us still in the running, let's pull together and get ready for SUMMER!!! A great saying was attached to our results for this week and I found it inspirational so I thought I would share it.
If
you focus on results, you will never change. If you focus on change, you will
get results!!!
So I think from here on out I'm focusing on making positive changes in my life rather than the number when I step on the scale. My new focus is going to be on cooking healthier for me and my family and to use Nike's motto of "just do it" for my motivation to get up and go and get into a routine of using my new workout videos TurboFire!! Here's hoping I ROCK next weeks weigh in.
